Rear Suspension Link May Become Loose
Suspension & Steering, February 11, 2011
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
Lock nuts securing certain rear suspension components may loosen. This can result in sudden changes in vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.
What Should You Do?
We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall. A clanking noise may or may not be noted from the rear of the vehicle if these nuts loosen. Please contact your GM dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The lock nuts securing the toe link portion of the rear suspension may loosen and cause a clanking type noise. In some cases, the toe link could separate and cause the rear wheel to turn in and out uncontrollably. This can result in a loss of vehicle control, which increases the risk of a crash. Toe links will be inspected and replaced as necessary and new lock nuts will be installed. At this time, there is no scheduled start date for this recall. The GM recall number is 11029.
