The module that operates the power window and lock switches can allow moisture in, causing corrosion that can lead to a short circuit. This results in window and lock functions not working, and creates a fire risk. Dealers will inspect and replace affected modules free of charge to resolve the concern.
Excess weight on the key ring can cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position without warning, turning off the engine. This defect can also affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. Dealers will install two 13mm key rings and key insert into the vehicle's ignition keys to correct this concern.
A wiring splice in the drivers door may fail, resulting in the loss of function of the chime that sounds with the key in the ignition and door open, as well as not shutting down accessories such as power windows that continue to operate with the vehicle off and the door closed, but should stop with the door open. Dealers will inspect the driver door window motor harness and replace the electrical splice as necessary free of charge to resolve the concern.
The driver's front air bag has a shorting bar which may intermittently contact the air bag terminals. This would cause the air bag to not function as designed in an accident. Dealers will replace the steering wheel air bag coil free of charge to resolve the problem.
The passenger front air bag may not deploy in a crash due to a faulty weld in manufacturing. Dealers will replace the passenger front air bag free of charge to resolve the concern.
In the affected vehicles, there is a flexible steel steel cable that connects the seatbelt buckle to the front seat frame. Over time the cable may fatigue and separate. If the steel cable separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of an injury in a crash. Dealers will inspect and replace the affected seatbelt buckles (lap pretensioners) to correct this concern.
Certain vehicles equipped with 17 inch front brake rotors are being recalled because during vehicle assembly, brake rotors intended for the rear may have been installed on the front. The rear rotors, while the same diameter, are thinner and may result in a front brake pad detaching from the caliper. Braking ability would be reduced suddenly if a brake pad were to detach. The resulting increased stopping distance would increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the front brake rotors, and install the correct rotors with new brake pads, as necessary to correct this concern.
The fuel gauge may not read accurately, resulting in the possibility of running out of fuel unexpectedly. Dealers will reprogram the engine control module free of charge to resolve the concern.
Increased resistance in the front seat mounted side impact air bag (SIAB) wiring harness can result in the SIAB and seat belt pretensioners not deploying as expected in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the affected harness connections with soldered connections to correct this concern.
