2004 Buick Rainier Question: Buick Rainier

The temperature gauge may not be "exact'; I would recommend having the gauge checked with a diagnostic tool to see if it responds to commands properly.
I would also verify the temperature sending unit was reading properly at the engine.

Are you sure the overheat light is not a low coolant light? It is not unusual for the low coolant light to be on and the coolant is full. it does indicate a problem, though
