Question: bronco shudders

when i start the bronco i have to keep it reved up or ti wil;l stall. When i get going the car shudders until i get to about 55 mph then maybe i can'tnotice. the car is old and i'm hoping itjust needs a spark plug or tune-up. any ideas?

    Well, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor is a good place to start, if it hasn't been done in a while.

    Sounds like you may have multiple concerns. Your shuddering and stalling could be an air/fuel mixture issue. Such as a sludged idle air control valve. You could have a vacuum leak. The EGR ports could be clogged - quite common for higher mileage 5.0L/5.8L engines. Likely it is a combination of several things that contributes to your issue.

    I had the same problem and it turned out two of my spark plug wires had a bad connection, so the engine was working on only 6 cylynders. It would act as if it wanted to stall on any uphill incline, especially around 35mph.
