Broken transmission cable on 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

The transmission cable on my car broke this morning. Now my car is stuck in my driveway and I can't start it again since I can't put it in park or neutral. I know it's possible to shift gears manually from where the transmission cable connects in the motor (this problem happened before) but I'm not sure how to do it, especially alone. Can anyone help? Thanks

under the hood back by the firewall, follow the cable to the shift lever. you can move it manually to put it in park. you will need someone else to help as when you put it in drive, you need help. take it to a trans shop or repair shop to get the cable replaced. Roy
