Question: broken timing belt

my 99 montero sliped the t-belt when i turned off the vehicle i only tried to turn over twice what do u think the odds are that there was valve damage?

    It depends on how far the belt slipped, but the odds are very high that you have bent some valves.
    What I would do if I was working on this and I wasn't positive that the valves are bent is to install a new belt and turn the engine over by hand to see if it is OK. And then check cylinder compression. At this point you will know if it is OK or not.
