are there any indications that there is a broken sway bar link on my mountaineer? In describing the problem, people have suggested ball-joint replacement or rebuilding the transfer case- example: when pulling out of the driveway and turning onto the street, when I go from reverse to drive, if i turn the wheels BEFORE moving forward, there is a loud thumping noise. The does not happen if I go from R to D without turning the wheels, but I do have to roll forward while turning the wheels in order to avoid the clunking noise.
