I have been bringing my Volvo XC90 to Bridgewater Motor Works since 2007. I have never had a problem with them. My car has always been fixed in a reasonable amount of time and never for more than the estimate. I like that they have all the factory tools and information. I recommend them to anyone that needs their car fixed at a fair price.

Last year I took my VW to Bridgewater Motor Works at the recommendation of another local shop which was unable to diagnose my problem. Bridgewater Motor Works was able to diagnose the problem. It took a lot less time to repair than diagnose. The test procedures were explained to me and I was satisfied that the diagnostic bill was fair. Since then I have had them do a couple of normal minor repairs and have done some maintenance works. The prices have been fair and I they know what they are doing. I recommend them to all my friends that drive the cars they work on, except those that expect something for nothing. It took several hours to diagnose my original problem and only 15 minutes to fix it. I expected to pay for the diagnostic time. There are a few people I know that though I should have only paid for the 15 minute repair. If you agree with them go elsewhere. Otherwise, they are a very knowledgeable shop and are fair.

Stay away these guys unless you want to go broke thinking that these people will be cheaper than a Dealer!!!!
When I first brought my car into Bridgewater Motorworks I described in detail what was previously done and what the issue was and they then told me that 100% that the ignition was bad and needed to be replaced since they stated that they were an authorized Mercedes and BMW repair shop with all of the same computer and test equipment, but proceeded to replace the item that did not come close to fixing the issue and I was stuck with a new ignition for well over a $1100 dollars including labor, but still no car. I ask them to take the ignition back out since clearly this did not fix the issue, but I was told that this was not a returnable part? But why was I stuck with the cost when I was depending on their so called expertise or lack there of to tell me what was wrong? Then I was told a few days later that my plugs were bad and that there was a 75% chance that this would get the car running? So since my car was not running at this time and already I authorized this and again my car was still not running, but they charged me another $400 dollars, so now at this point I am in the hole for $1500 dollars, but still no car and having to bumb rides to work and finally after asking over and over again for a loaner they gave me a piece of crap 1989 Volvo with fumes so bad it left me coughing for days? They then told me that they had to put a lot of invisible hours into finding this issue, which turned out to be the first thing that I told them is that the "CrankShaft Positions Sensor" came up bad with a known code of "P0335" and we had replaced it, but that is possible where the trouble is, but instead they went through all of this unnecessary crap to finally charge me another $1200 dollars for a grand total of $2700 for a job that should have only cost a little under a $1000 or even less if they had looked at what I had asked them when it was towed to them. Finally I wanted my car back wrote a detailed email as you can see below to just have my car towed back home and wait to see if I can save some money and take it to a real dealer at Mercedes, but they call and told me that they could figure it out and what was I supposed to do now? My car was still not in driving condition at this point after $1500 bucks and now feeling like I was being held hostage since they just did not know what they were doing. Email I sent demanding an answer and my car back will be forwarded upon request before the extra $1200 dollars for vapor or air cost:

RIP OFF! They did repair the vehicle, I'll give them that, however they refused to honor a coupon I received in the mail for a free diagnostic service. In fact, after they determined what the problem was with my vehicle, they charged me $125 for the diagnostic on top of parts and labor for the repairs. Most repair shops, dealerships included, waive the diagnostic charge if they perform the repairs, but not Bridewater Motor Works. These guys are out to gouge you at every turn. As a result of my experience, I'll NEVER go back to this shop, nor will I recommend them to anyone. I feel as if I was taken advantage of. Given the exhorbitant hourly labor rate this place charges, I recommend taking your vehicle to the dealership. This place must be hurting for business if they have to take advantage of its customers by overcharging. In my opinion, their practices should be investigated and they should be shut down.

Very expensive. I took my 2002 Audi in for an overheating problem. They charged me $463.00 for a diagnosis. After that I had my doubts about them. Two mechanics i know personally stated after reading their itemized bill, that I was charged approximately twice as much as i should have. I then brought it to another mechanic shop 4 towns over. I have no previous acquaintance with these people or this shop. I gave them the same list of problems. They gave me the same diagnosis for $201.10. I never told this shop what the other shop charged. I will see them next in court. First small claims, if and when I win I will pursue fraud and criminal charges with the states attorneys office and my lawyer. Be very careful with this. I tried to let Mike Holmes the chance to redeem themselves. I stated everything in this review and he told me he thought nothing was wrong with the bill.
