Question: Parking brake light on

I noticed this morning when releasing the parking brake the light remained on and after a few seconds an ABS light came on. My truck didn't appear to be having any brake issues as i've never been able to move the truck while the parking brake was engaged and it didn't feel as though there was anything restricting it's movement to indicate the parking brake was still engaged. Never the less i parked the truck and took another vehicle to get to work, i was simply curious if anyone might have an idea on what could be causing the problem? or any easy checks i could try before taking it in for service.

    i just had the EXACT same problem this morning. i live in austin. we just had our first freeze lastnight. havent had a chance to LOOK at it. (work)

    (97 nissan Xcab, 150k miles.)

    just FYI, mine ended up being due to low brake fluid....there was enough brake fluid that when backing in and out of my driveway i didn't see any problems but as soon as i got home and had a chance to check things out i noticed it was right at the minimum line. You might check your emergency brake switch, that seemed to be the most common cause i found after reading around on the internet

    on the day that it happened, when i went to lunch, it was fine.
    i was thinking break fluid too. because of the cold, it was thicker than usual and made it think it was low.

    it hasnt done it since, and ive been rather busy/lazy i havent popped the hood.
    nor at the time, did i have extra money for anything lol even break fluid.
    but i get paid in a couple of days and plan on doing a tune up.
