I have a 89 300e that is having some braking issues. When I pulled away from the curb I got about 10' and the rear passenger wheel locked up,I replaced the caliper and brake pads but it did nothing,it still seems like the parking brake is engaged and you canhear the squeaking and grinding loud and clear. It even feels like its dragging when driving at highway and city speeds and it also has a thud like sound which you only hear at certain times but mainly while sitting still after braking to a complete stop. The ABS light comes on sometimes for extended periods of time but it will go off for days at a time also. This is all the information I have and any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You

You will have to jack up and support the car, remove the rear wheels, remove the rear caliper's and brake discs, inspect the parking brake shoes, perhaps they are totally worn out or the spring that keeps the shoes retracted has broken and is causing your problem. Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website http://bit.ly/autozone_repair_info.
and get an online repair manual subscription. Alldata are great for information, he information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... Alldata is very easy to navigate http://bit.ly/AllData_Repair_Manuals_Online

Excellent answer from Patrick. I'd just add that I have seen broken off lining material stuck between the parking brake shoe and the drum.
