2007 Hyundai Entourage Question: Brakes feel like they are rumbling

Question

Visitor, Las Vegas, NV, May 18, 2010, 13:23

Whenever driving in a downhill descent the brakes feel like they are rumbling. As soon as the brake is released the rumbling goes away. I have had the brakes checked with Hyundai but they say nothing is wrong. All of the vehicles I have ever owned in the past I have never experienced anything like this before.

I took my Entourage in to Hyundai service department to get the brakes fixed. They told me the pads were fine and so were the rotors. They are telling me that when driving downhill it is causing the rotors to heat up and that is what is causing the rumbling, or possibly the ABS kicking in. I am so disappointed.

your rotors are warpped do not i repeat do not have them turned they will still be warpped and the turning will take more metal from one area than the others its almost just as cheap to get new ones. new pads rotors repack the bearings since you got it apart and will solve it all

WAIT!! We had the exact same problem, got the exact same response as answer #1, IT'S WHOEY! Pull the rotors, take them down to a GOOD brake shop and get them turned. It will give you smooth as silk stops under any conditions. I honestly don't know what's up with Hyundai on this issue, but the fix is simple and cost me $30.

The brake/rotor probem is a known issue at Hyundia. I've had to replace and/or have the rotors turned every 12-14k miles. I've only been able to get one good turn on the rotors and then they have to be replaced. After many visits to the dealer, I was told that this problem is a design flaw (the van is too heavy for the rotors) and it won't be fixed because Hyundia is going to stop making vans. Very disappointing. I will never do business with Hyundia again.

This is soo disappointing... I have the exact same problem. Have also had it to the dealership many times, they are now trying to charge me for everything they do... I have independently replaced the brake pads twice(only has 24,000 miles on it), and per the dealerships advice, I replaced the rotors... I have told them that this is a heat related problem, and they just keep wanting to replace parts instead of admitting there is a problem. They have even suggested that perhaps we are braking to hard???? Seriously??? Can't wait to see what they try to replace this time..
