Need to have someone help to bleed the brake system because when air is in the system the pedal will feel mushy because brake fluid dosn't compress like air, so when the air is eliminated the pedal will feel solid.

If the pedal felt "mushy " before hand you may have a bad brake master cylinder, if not I also suspect you have air in the brake system which needs to be bleed out.

My Saturn SL1 doesnt seem to have that issue but when my father owned my car he had the brakes worked on 3 times before it was fixed. The brakes went out on him after the 1st year and a mechanic said they fixed it. A few days later they failed again. He took it to another mechanic because the first mechanic didnt want to honor the warranty and the brakes failed again. He took it back to the second mechanic and they fixed it for free because of the warranty. The brakes on my car havent had a problem since. But, if you are having issues with oil levels. Somehow with the SL1's the oil is getting in through the Air Intake. Me and my dad seen that problem and looked it up online and other people have had the same issue.

old thread but if you've found no other answers, i may have the one you're looking for. I had the same problem with brakes being mushy or whatever. I changed the MC and the brake power booster with no luck fixing the issue. what I found was causing the problem was not air in the lines, the MC or BPB. It was in fact a clogged hose going from my intake to the BRB. Once that was cleared out, my brakes went right back to how they should be.
