when they wear out. have them checked every 5-6 thousand miles. the average life is 15-20k. if your brake light comes on, have them checked right away. Roy

Two spring clips attach to opposite brake pads holding them apart. Are they necessary? Is there a trick to replacing them? ie a jig or rubber bands??
