I have 18k mi on T&C, brakes started grinding; dealership is replacing pads for $199. (1)is this normal wear for brakes? (2) had the van in for service 4 weeks ago and asked for brake check before going on vacation, no problem found, shouldn't they have found a problem before metal on metal? (3) Easy Care policy states they do not cover pads if they fail due to lack of maintenance...I have kept up maintenance, they missed it. Any answers for me?

They should have caught the brake pads were worn when you were in for service a month ago! You say your front brakes have worn out in 18,000 miles. It totally depends on the driving conditions and driving characteristics of the driver but I have put a lot of pads on Town and Country vans with 20,000 miles. One woman we have as a customer only gets 9000 out of here brake pads I checked pressures to the rear and suspected the back brakes were not working. It was not until I dropped her home one evening and saw how steep the road to her house was I realized why her brakes wore out so quickly.

There was recall on the 2008 T&C front pads which were wearing too premature. I did my at 16k and again at 38K but that time the dealer installed the pads. I believe they installed the new type as I got 30K on this set of pads. I found out too late about the recall.
