New 2008 Corolla S has always had brake growl upon first few brake applications. Had rotors turned by dealer, and they say it is OK. It pops when applying brakes in a turn at slow speeds. The car now has 22,000 miles but no warranty.

Can you tell if it is front or rear left or right? Brakes "squeal" and can "growl" on first application due to moisture, incorrect brake disc finish, or poor quality brake pads. If pad thickness is OK it is not a safety issue just an annoyance.

Front discs, it is VERY annoying, so much so, I am considering trading for a different brand of automobile. I have had Fords for 45 years, and never had this issue with them. My Tundra limited 5.7 is quiter than the Corolla. The noise is more pronounced if I let the car sit 2 days. No rust is evident on rotors, very little brake dust accumulates on wheels, and car stops OK, just wish the popping and growling would go away. It is embarassing to me.
