2001 Honda Accord Q&A

2001 Honda Accord Question: Brake lights stay on even when car is off.

The 2 brakelights as well as the center taillight stay on even without the key is not in the ignition. Also, there was a few small pieces of broken plastic on my floorboard when I noticed the lights were on, not sure if they are related but found it odd What is the problem and how can it be fixed. Not very mechanically inclined -
Answer 1
Possibly a loose wire or brake pedal is sticking a bit. Stop at a shop and ask if the can take a quick look. -
Answer 2
By the brake pedal there is a brake light switch, normally the stopper goes out...you can try to plug it with a bolt and screw small enough to get in that hole. zero dollars pretty much -

Thank you. That was the problem. Used a golf tee and duct tape to fix. No issues since -
