When I push the brake pedal my brake lights work, but then I push the pedal again and they don't work. What could this be?

It could be a defective Brake Light Switch. Try leaning under the dash and pushing on the brake pedal and jiggling the switch and have a person watch the brake lights to see if they flicker or malfunction in some way.

These cars are also notorious for having bad multi function switches.. it is the switch for the turn signals , it is an assembly, but the brake light cuircuit runs through this switch .. but i would check what dandd said first
