1999 Honda Accord Question: Brake lamp light comes on and off

Visitor, 3.0L V6, La Puente, CA, January 14, 2011, 21:04

It started 7 days ago.I checked all the light bulbs and they are all working. Brake fluid level is also ok. It usually happens first thing in the morning when I press the brake pedal ,later in the day it goes off.I haven't replaced the brake pads in a long time. Could it be the reason of the problem?

    The red brake warning light comes on for only a few reasons.
    One: Parking brake still on
    Two: Low fluid level in the master cylinder
    Three: Excessive brake pedal travel - goes too low.

    Brake concerns like this are potentially serious, so it would really be advisable to get it inspected as soon as reasonably possible.

    Thanks for answering. Just want to say that it is not the " BRAKE " light for the parking brake what comes on ,but the " BRAKE LAMP " light placed in the trunk. Is there a difference?

    Oh! My mistake.

    I would say there is still a bulb out. It's possible that you have a single filament of a dual filament bulb that is burned out. Turn your headlights on and check the brake lights then - before and after having someone put their foot on the brake for you. I think you'll see there's a light out.
