The brake line may become chafed due to repeated contact with the oil lines that come from the oil filter housing. Chafed brake lines may lead to brake fluid leaks and a loss of hydraulic brake system pressure, which may result in an accident. Dealers will install a rubber spacer below the plastic oil filter housing carrier to prevent sagging and contact between the oil and brake lines. Corroded brake lines will be replaced.
The transmission gear position indicator switch may lose contact, which can cause the vehicle to go into a fail safe mode. Performance will be reduced, which may cause a crash. Dealers will replace the transmission gear position indicator switch.
The brake light switch may fail and stick in the "brake lamps on" or "brake lamps off" position. Inaccurate illumination of brake lights could lead to an accident. Dealers will inspect and replace the brake lamp switch with a new improved part.
