The air bags mounted in the sides of the front seats may not deploy when needed in an accident due to a failure of the igniters within the air bag assemblies. This would increase risk of occupant injury in a crash.

Recall repairs on your BMW or Mini vehicle must be performed by a BMW or Mini dealership, respectively. BMW and Mini will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in February, 2017. The drive shaft that propels engine power to the rear wheels could fracture due to a manufacturing flaw. This could allow the vehicle to roll when parked, and would fail to power the rear wheels while driving, which could cause an accident.

On certain 2013 M series vehicles, the oil pump can fail, causing a loss of oil pressure and in some cases, the engine to stall. 

BMW will notify owners of affected vehicles during October of 2012. If you experience abnormal noise from the engine, the low oil pressure warning system is active, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer.
