Body, Interior & Misc., November 12, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The front passenger seat contains a mat that determines the presence and size of a seat occupant. This input to the airbag controller helps to determine if and how forcefully the passenger airbag should deploy in the event of a crash. The detection mat can develop cracks and fail. If this were to occur, the airbag would not deploy as expected, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will repair the occupant detection mat to eliminate the possibility it may crack. Additionally certain vehicles will receive and extended warranty on the front passenger seat occupant detection mat.

For Models: BMW 325Ci, BMW 325i, BMW 325xi, BMW 330Ci, BMW 330i, BMW 330xi, BMW M3

Body, Interior & Misc., May 3, 2013

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Airbags use a chemical reaction contained in an inflator module to create the pressure necessary to inflate the bags when deployment is required. These vehicles are being recalled because the front passenger airbag inflator may produce excessive internal pressure when deployed. As a result, the inflator module could rupture, causing metal fragments to strike vehicle occupants. Dealers will inspect and replace any defective passenger front airbag inflator modules found.

For Models: BMW 325i, BMW 325xi, BMW 330i, BMW 330xi

Electrical & Lights, August 25, 2011

RepairPal Expert Overview:

High resistance in the electrical contacts may cause one or more of the rear lights to stop working. Intermittent light operation reduces the ability to warn other motorists of the driver's intentions, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will repair the affected vehicles as necessary to correct this concern.

For Models: BMW 325Ci, BMW 325i, BMW 325xi, BMW 330i, BMW 330xi

Suspension & Steering, November 21, 2006

RepairPal Expert Overview:

On 25 vehicles, the bolt securing the front control arm and swivel bearing were not tightened to specification and could loosen over time. If the nuts loosen, vehicle handling and control could be compromised, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will tighten the front control arm and swivel bearing connection to the correct specifications. The recall began November 21, 2006.

Brakes, March 25, 2002

Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, A PROBLEM IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS MAY HAVE RESULTED IN THE CREATION OF A CRACK WHERE THE BRAKE DISC AND THE PARKING BRAKE DRUM MEET. FURTHER CRACKING OF THE ROTOR COULD OCCUR DUE TO BRAKING TORQUE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AND THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THE BRAKE DRUM, CONNECTED TO THE WHEEL HUB, WOULD COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE DISC.
