BMW or Bavarian Motor Works is a leading German luxury automaker and motorcycle builder founded in 1916. They manufacture around 2 million vehicles annually worldwide. BMW stands Bayerische Motoren Werke, or Bavarian Motor Works, and was founded in 1916. Many believe the BMW logo is of an airplane propellor, but that’s incorrect. The blue and white colors are a tribute to the German state of Bavaria and that logo merged with Rapp Motors to created the roundel. Germany was banned from creating warplanes and warplane engines after World War II, forcing BMW to enter the field of automobiles.
BMW's most reported problem on RepairPal is associated with burning oil on the BMW 325i.
