Blown head gasket on 2006 Kia Sorento

About how much does it cost to replace a blown head gasket? I'm being told it costs over $1000. Thank you for your time.

If done correctly, it will cost at least that much. Both heads will need to be removed and checked for cracks, warpage or other damage (regardless of which gasket failed- left or right side), and the deck surfaces cleaned and resealed with new gaskets. If the head (or heads) are found to be beyond repair, they will need to be replaced with new or remanufactured heads that will escalate the cost substantially.
