HEY DOG, YOUR VALVE SEALS ARE LEAKING A LITTLE OIL INTO THE CYLS. MINE HAS BEEN DOING THAT FOR OVER A YEAR NOW NO PROBEM WITH MINE DOES NOT CONSUME OIL JUST SMOKES A SECOUND AFTER START. UP TO YOU IF YOU WANT TO HAVE THE SEALS INSTALLED, I MAY DO MINE ONE DAY. -

Thanks for your reply. At this time it's more of an annoyance as my Camry is running great. It appears that the amount of smoke coming out is getting worse. It is now happening when I leave work after parking the car for 8 hours. Can this damage my engine or other areas of my car? A valve job is estimated at $2200. Does this sound right? Another thing..I had a really hard time getting my car smoged this time around. At first we thought it was because the battery was replaced and the computer didn't have enough memory...It really became a nightmare...Eventually my repairman checked the error codes and it passed by a lick and a promise. Any thoughts? -

IF IT GETS TO THE POINT THAT IT SMOKES MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS YOU MAY WANT TO HAVE THE VALVE SEALS REPLACED NO NEED FOR A "VALVE JOB" HOW MANY MILES ON THE CAR? MINE IS AT 160,000 NEXT TIME YOU GET AN OIL CHANGE USE AN OIL LABELED HI MILEAGE AND USE 10W30. THIS HELPED MY 2002 CAMRY 2.4L ENGINE. -

I only have 65000 miles... -

WOW NOW THAT'S A WHOLE NEW BALL GAME. YOU NEED TO SEE A MECHANIC! AS IT MAY BE A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM. WHAT ENGINE? 2002 RIGHT? -
Comment 5
2002 4 cylinder 2.4 ..Camry....No other problems...runs great... -

JUST BE SURE IT IS NOT STEAM AS IN COOLANT BURNING THROUGH THE ENGINE. AND KEEP A CLOSE CHECK ON THE FLUIDS. BUT TRY THE HIGH MI. OIL AT NEXT SERVICE! IT HAS A SEAL CONDITIONER IN IT.(Q ST. PENN. VALV.) LOTS OF CHOICES. -

Any thoughts on Marvel Mystery Oil? My wifes' 1995 camry (2.2L) is at almost 294K. But , alas I hear a lot about the newer 4&6 cyl. sludging and smoking especially if they're 'babied' instead of being driven hard. -
