2004 Ford Explorer Q&A
2004 Ford Explorer Question: Blower only blows cold air
Now that winter is here my blower will only blow cold air. There is a "clicking" noise that come from under the dash. When I turn the Setting knob to cold it is quite--when I adjust it to a warmer setting it starts clicking. Any info on causes, how to repair and costs. - sullib
You absolutely have a fault in your temperature blend door system. On the 2004 Explorer, the cause could be the motor that controls the door turning from hot to cold and back, or it could be the heater plenum that the door attaches to that can crack. Either way, the dash needs to be accessed to inspect. Hopefully it is just the motor, as that is less costly than the plenum. However, there is probably 5-7 hours of labor involved to remove / access the dash, so figure on a frustratingly hefty repair bill. Good luck. - DaveJHM
i have an 2003 ford explorer..i had the same problem..its the blend door acuator. you can get the part from a junk yard for under $100 brand new as well as your local pep boys etc. the part is a cheap part it will be the labor that will cost you the money. the entire dash will have to be taking out and it does take a few hours to do. if you can find a side mechanic to repair it they shouldn't charge you alot for labor. - Visitor

The a/c will work then stops blowing cold for a while and then may start again. I noticed yesterday that the fan belt suddenly stopped spinning but the pullys continued turning. I wonder if the com...
