2002 Lexus ES300 Question: belt sqeel noise

Question

I have a 02 ES300. I bought the car about 2 years ago with 62k and noticed when I turned on the AC, the car made a load screeching noise, it also does it in the winter when I need to turn on the defrost. I have to rev the engine for the noise to go away. Sometimes it makes the noise wen i first start up the car with out the AC or defroster on. People tell me that its the belts or the pully. i had the belts replace but the noise is still there. When I bring it to have it looked at, the noise is no longer there, because the car has been warmed up. This is driving me crazy. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Chances are, the A/C pulley & clutch are starting to fail. The only way to let a shop confirm this is to leave the car with them overnight so they can start it with a cold engine to verify the problems.
The defrost function uses the A/C compressor- thus the same belt noise in the winter.

It must be the drive belt slipping on the A/C or alternator pulleys. Either the belt is loose or there's a tensioner problem. It's possible that the A/C system is restricted or overcharged causing high resistance to startup in the compressor. the A/C is used in defrost to dehumidify the car, so the compressor starts at that time. That the noise disappears when you rev the engine suggests the alternator best is slipping, get it rechecked by a Lexus specialist.
