Question: behind water pump

i have a leak behind water pump. its not the pump but the cover behind it. should water come from there and what part is it? my truck overheated and was sprayn water from a small hole on the passenger side close to the block from this parts gaskit.

    The pump needs to be removed and the cover resealed also a complete system flush, it would be advised to replace the thermostat and water pump if it hasn't been done on the trucks repair history.
