battery light on 2003 Cadillac DeVille

a little while ago the battery not charging light came on when I started the car and then after it warmed up the light turned off, this only happened about twice before and the light always turned back off so I just figured it was cold weather. Tonight when I was driving home from work though half way home the battery not charging light came on again and did not turn off. I didn't seem to loose any power, and the lights didn't dim. Is there an actual problem that I should be worried that my car won't start in the moring or is it just because it's really cold outside?

This light will come on when the alternator stops charging. This is something that should be checked out, especially if it happening when it is really cold out, because you don't want to get stuck in your vehicle in those conditions.
Take this to a shop that has the appropriate equipment to check this out, and ask them to look at the technical service bulletins from GM for any related info that might apply to this problem.
