If you are trying to start your Honda and you are sure it is Park and your D4 light comes on, it sounds like your Neutral Safety Switch is out of alignment or is defective. Let me explain. Your car is designed to only start in Park and Neutral as a safety feature. This is so you can't start it in gear. Starting a car in gear is dangerous because it can run some one over, so all cars are designed not to start when in gear.

try to wiggle the safety neutral switch it is on top the transmission to see if there is a short an inspect for bare wires

I have noticed the same thing in my 1996 odyssey but I know it is not an issue with the shifter because the starter moter is turning the engine. I doubt the momentaty flash of D4 means anything because my problem is that the fuel pump is not running. I have yet to narrow it down to a broken pump of the fuel pump relay not kicking on.
