a friend told me there was a sequene to change the battery. is this true? and if so. how?

  When disconnecting the battery, remove the negative cable first, then the positive cable. When re-installing, connect the positive cable, then the negative cable. Make sure you clean any corrosion off the terminals before installing the battery.

  no sequence there but you will need a code to get your radio to work if you do not have this code try looking where your spare tire is you will find a 4 digit number look carefully use this code to reset radio
