Out of respect for the very nice owners of this site, I have edited my comments to be in compliance with their terms of service. That said, everything posted is the truth.

Pit Road Automotive failed to correctly diagnose the problem with my vehicle which stalled and shook. Instead, it is my opinion that they guessed. The first guess was the Idle Air Control. WRONG! The car's problems were not improved by this repair which part, I have been advised, would not have caused the vehicle to stall and shake.

At the same time, I had Pit Road do a brake inspection. They reported that I had 20% left on the pads. So I told them I'd bring it in for brakes. Of course I was relying on the ASE certification that they'd do them right. WRONG! They either ignored the trailer hitch or disregarded the fact that if there's a hitch, I probably tow. Pit Road told me the rear rotors had to be replaced. Of course that didn't come up during the brake inspection. Also missed during the brake inspection; the right front wheel bearing about to disintegrate.

The brakes are actually worse than they were before. I have to take my car in tomorrow to another mechanic to have them completely redone.

The stalling/shaking problem continued so I took the car back to Pit Road. This time's dart throw was to wipe off the Mass Airflow sensor. They told me it gets dirty and that had to be the problem. Oh and no charge for a good customer.

Problem solved? Hardly. So back I go to Pit Road, starting to become really disillusioned. This time it has to be the Mass Airflow Sensor. Because it can't be anything else. But even after driving it around, Pit Road's technician failed to detect the unavoidably annoying shaking that could only be a failing wheel bearing.

That incorrect guess cost me $350 and missing the about-to-fail wheel bearing placed my daughter's life in danger. The car stalled right in front of me the next morning. I contacted Pit Road who said the brand new Motorcraft part had to be defective. They'd order a new one, should be in tomorrow. Tomorrow came and went. No word from Pit Road. A few more days, nothing. Emails, no reply. So I went down there. No cars anywhere. No open bays. I had a bad feeling. I opened the door and the place was cleaned out. They were gone. I was furious!

I've since found that they have opened yet another location - that's 3 in 2 years for those keeping count - and they have my part.

I took my car to what I consider to be a very credible mechanic. Another $450 later, the Crank Position Sensor and right front wheel bearing was replaced. Problems solved.

I would not take my car back to Pit Road if they were the only mechanics within 100 miles and rue the day they I ever went there. I will never again sacrifice the convenience of a local solution over the quality of a mechanic who is geographically farther away.

I have been going to Pit Road Automotive for all my vehicle needs for near 2 years.

Jim Bass and his staff have ALWAYS been courteous and professional.

Everything that has been done on my car has been “by the book”, no shortcuts taken. The work has been exceptionally very satisfactory to me.

His rates are lower than most automotive places, as I have done some research. I would highly recommend anyone with car problems to go see Jim at Pit Road Automotive. He knows mechanics and can tell you what the problem is before any tests are ran.

I taken my vehicles for the past year to Pit Road for all maintenance and service and have always been treated with respect. The owner, Jim Bass, is an honest and up-front individual and he always discussed with me what needed to be done prior to executing the work. Due to his excellent work ethic, I have referred family and friends to come see him with their own automotive problems. If you want it done right, take it to Jim.
