Ball Joints on 2004 Mercury Mountaineer

How do you test to see if your ball joints are bad on a 2004 Mountaineer?

You need to lift and suspend the vehicle front suspension, you then leverage under the front wheel and check with a dial indicator the movement of the lower ball joint ball in the socket.
