Bought my 2006 HHR new in 2006. Only have 34000 miles and I had a hard time starting it. It will crank about 4 or 5 times and then turn over. I was told by my Mechanic thaat I hav a bad fuel pump. How can a fuel pump go bad with such low miles?

Fuel pumps can go out on new vehicles as well as old, But if you run it low on fuel they pick up debris from the bottom of the tank and can do damage to the pump. You can check replacement costs for your fuel pump here http://repairpal.com/estimator?car_type_id=6178

It's the (fuel pressure regulator) don't replace the fuel pump. It connects to your fuel pump on top. You have to take the tank down and replace it. Buy the part and have a regular mechanic replace it it's cheaper my friend. good luck
