When my Escape started running at 2000 RPMs in "drive", I panicked and took it to Autopro. After spending over $1600.00, I sure wish I had done a little more research.
I am pretty sure they saw a girl coming, and their eyes turned right into dollar signs. I had several 90K services done in addition to having them address the major problem of too much air coming into the intake. When I initially took the car in, I told them it felt as thought the intake valve was stuck open.
The service man promised me my car would be done the same afternoon. So after waiting for an entire day down the street at a coffee shop, I finally called the shop, since they had not bothered to call me. Only to find out they had received the wrong part. It doesn't end there, though. I call AGAIN on Monday only to find out that they installed the part, but it did not fix the problem. They need my car ANOTHER day.
I should mention here that I am a school teacher, so just working from home, or not making it in that day is NOT an option.
Initially, on the phone, the service man told me I would not be paying for them to re-address the problem. However, in the afternoon, I get another call with an estimate. For some reason, it is a different service man talking to me now. I try to negotiate and convince him that it is not right for me to pay AGAIN for hem to fix the same thing that was not fixed in the first place.
I finally went to pick up my car (4 DAYS LATER!!!) and now it has two different problems that did not exist prior to my visit at Autopro. The gas pedal is sticking, and my wheels are squeeking every time I turn the steering wheel.
I took it to a smaller shop in Seattle, they told me that I was completely overcharged for parts and service. Also, that my gas pedal was sticking because they had not done proper work on the intake housing.
