Question
I just put in a used 5.4 engine from a 2003 E350 and rebuilt the transmission on my 2000 f150. Engine starts, runs but the transmission is shifting hard and will not go into reverse. I had the transmission shop check out the transmission which is ok. What should I check now?
Answer #1
i am assuming that the shop used a tool that manually shifts the trans. that leaves the wiring or trans computer issue. did the trans shop give you any ideas of what the problem could be??

No, I was hoping they would have pointed me in the right direction. I had removed the transmission from the truck and took it to them for the repair, while I removed the engine. Then I picked it up from them and installed it. They did look at it after everything was reinstalled in the truck, but they did not offer any advice.
Answer #2
I'm concerned that there may be an issue with the throttle position input for one thing that is feeding the transmission information. Did you swap over everything from your old engine to your replacement engine -- all sensors, everything else?
