Problem Description and Possible Solution
At higher mileages, (125,000-150,000) the automatic transmission may not shift correctly. This can be caused by the throttle position sensor being out of adjustment or a shift solenoid needing to be replaced. Typically the transmission does not need to be completely overhauled.

Truck started to vibrate and not shift properly! When traffic comes to a stop and I have to hit my brakes real quick my transmission goes out/ feels like it goes in to neutral, when I accelerate the rpms go to 4k and have to let off then it's an abrupt shift and loud noise!! Even when I turn and hit the brakes my transmission does the same damn thing feels like it goes into neutral and when I accelerate the rpms just shoot up like its in neutral!! And then it's an abrupt shift and loud noise!! I just had the transmission flushed and refilled!! What the hell is going on I've had older toyotas with way more miles and this has never happened!!!
98' tacoma transmission winding out to 30mph before shifting to 2nd gear and winding out to 55mph before going into 3rd gear. Also the overdrive will not engage.
Same problem. When I need to stop and then accelerate it's feels line the trans is i neutral and the comes a loud noise and feels like other car hit me on the back and after that the transmision will not shift to 4 gear. When that appens I need to stop, put on parking and shut down the truck and then start the truck again.... What is the problems with these transmisions ???
When driving above 55mph on an incline untill I get above 60mph the trans jerks or "hichups" very noticeable on an incline.
What is the estimated cost to have the Shift Solenoid replaced in the Transmission of a 1998 Toyota Tacoma.
How long should it take?
How difficult is it to do ?
slow to shift fo second gear, especially when truck is cold in the morning, or after sitting for a while at work. then is fine when warm. in winter times, worse. my uncle's 2001 is the same.
I have the same problem when I drive and come to a stop and go the tranny seem like it not in gear how can I fix this
I have a 2001 tacoma and i ll shift into drive and the drive wont kick in until the rmps are close 2000 or over even when i put it into low and 2nd gear it ll hit even harder. While on the road it ll shift smoothly to 2nd and 3rd. Could it be a sensor and sighn thatbthe tranny giving out?
Trans has a surging problem in passing gear. When merging onto the highway, you can hear it wanting to go and feel it surge. Have to merge at slower speed and work your way up to speed. Have to baby it abit.
My transmission seems to slip going into over drive.
slow to shift into 2nd gear first thing in morning no problem rest of day
Will not go into reverse and drives in neutral
Transmission seems to have a hard time shifting from 1st to 2nd (around 35mph) especially when the engine is warm, When the engine is cooler the problem is less noticeable. I had the transmission fluid replaced (not flushed) and that seemed to help somewhat, I also tried flushing the coolant which did not seem to contribute to a fix.
Feels like a tranny slip; not reactive to acceleration. Will just back off at random times while driving-in OD, not in OD, happening at all speed ranges. More common when in warm/hot temps...no engine light issues or engine temp issues. Have had sensor "cleaned" during other maintenance and issue did not occur for months, but now has returned with a vengeance and truck now over 215k mi.
a full tank give only 200 miles, Automatic Transmission in 2nd and3rd shift take time to shift

Under hard breaking conditions the transmission shifts into a neutral position and won't re engauge. Driver must cycle shift lever into park then back to drive in order for transmission to function properly. It doesn't seem like the transmission its self is bad. It does seem like maybe a sensor or control componet is faulty.
Haven't had truck repaired as of yet. Will resubmit upon repair.
Auto shift. Will not shift from 2nd into 3rd. Recent change
First Gear change of 30 miles per hour and then the transmission failed in any position looks like Neutral. I turn off the car For 20 minutesWhen I turn it back on start working very weird but I make it home
