Question: Automatic Transmission Complete Overhaul

Our automatic transmission went out on our minivan and we're having to have a complete overhaul on the transmission - what is a typical cost of this repair as we were quoted $2,200 to $2,600.

    sounds like a very realistic price. make sure you get a warranty.

    We have the same issue, sometimes it does not shift from 1st to 2nd gear and engine reves up high, we wait a couple of moments and it engages, otherwise no problems...I was told by a transmission place that it may be a torque converter ($800ish) or solenoid ($400ish)...we when to dealer they wanted to replace the entire transmission, they offered some assistance, but our cost would have been around $2000, Honda does not rebuild transmissions at the dealership they just put in a whole new one...check out the torque converter or solenoid before you agree on new transmission
