1998 Porsche Boxster Question: Auto Transmission slips
Answer #1patrick mannion from Greg Solow's Engine Room, March 13, 2011, 19:25Master
If the Boxter has a manual transmission the clutch is worn out or something is broken in the drive train but most likely to be a worn out clutch. Similar if auto transmission equipped, either the transmission has failed or something has failed in the drive train.

sounds like the clutch is worn out or at least needs adjusting.
