Auto trans shifting on 1993 Ford Explorer

When I drive the car for the first time each day (no matter what time of day it is), it takes a long time for it to shift. After the car warms up, there doesn't seem to be any problem. Is this something to be concerned with?

Check the fluid level and condition. The fluid may be low, but you may also be seeing the signs of a transmission failure, which is fairly common on these models.

Car wont shift into gear when cold. But after warming up it shifts gear normal. Takes about ten minutes of running car before it starts shifting.
shifting is harsh while driving sometimes but its also the same while reversing
