    They thoroughly explain problems and resolutions prior to work. Small and last minute "happenings" are repaired on the spot when possible. The wait room is comfortable with freshly brewed tea/coffee and 2 great dogs to make the wait like being at home in my living room - except I have cats!! For a single gal - I have total faith in what they tell me.

    Was charge for something I had already told them. The estimate of 880.00 in comparison to 390.00 wich I paid else were. Also I feel 90.00 an hour is a bit high for an independent Mac.

    After having my brakes repaired, which was a fine experience, I asked for a 'check up' and maintenance that I had deferred for years. The verdict was that the car needed a new steering rack, valve cover replacement and change of brake and clutch fluid. This was to cost $1300. When I arrived, the 'check engine' light was on, and the owner charged me $100 to put his little reader on it. In the past, it had been attributed to the gas cap by Marin Mitsubishi, who offered to read it for free. The price was price had gone up to $1500 before repairs had even begun. I received a call about an hour later saying it needed a new throttle sensor for over $300 and a new spark plug wire. I told them no. I was mad that they hadn't checked the dang spark plugs in the first place...isn't that like 'B' of the ABCs of tune-up? The owner let his phone answering guy drive my car (can you spell 'liability'?) over to pick me up and he refused to get out of the driver seat of MY car for the ride back, so I rode as a passenger in my own car. An item in my car had been flung under the front seat, and I understood why on the drive back..he drove like a mad person on the way back to the shop, even honking at other drivers not once, but twice. I was mortified that someone I knew would see me in the car with this guy. The owner let me write him a check for over $1500 ( w brake job, he got nearly $2000 of my money) and drive away from his shop with my check engine light still on. He told me if it started blinking to pull over immediately! My trust in them was totally shattered. The car sounded really weird the next time I drove it...on the 1.5 hr drive over Hwy 175 ( winding, 2-lanes, sheer drop off the side). I was afraid to drive it home it sounded so strange. I drove to the only garage open on a Saturday and two men in Lakeport at Mackey Tire center drove my car, put it up on the hydraulic lift to check it, re-read the check engine light and then turned it off for me ALL FOR FREE! My jerk at Auto Japan couldn't do that for a customer who had just paid him nearly $2K. When the light came back on about a month later, I took it to Callagy Automotive. He checked the light (FREE again) and changed the spark plugs....it's been fine ever since. I will never go back to Auto Japan.

    Vaughn and his crew provide not only quality work you can trust, but also the best customer service. Everyone there makes you feel like family. They are very thorough in explaining what the problems are with my car. Being a female, it's important to know that they are being upfront with me. Vaughn has gone the extra mile for me on a few occassions. We have two trucks and one Acura, he works on them all. If integrity is important to you then Auto Japan is the place to go.

    Absolutely THE MOST skilled, honest, diligent repair shop I have encountered in my 60 years. My old Buick had big problems (my wife has a Lexus, hence my entry there). Vaughn read the codes and fixed what they suggested. When the repair did not "take," Vaughn gave me a brand new loaner and left me alone with it for three weeks while he drove my Buick daily home and back to further diagnose. It turned out to be a wiring repair more costly than the car's value. In addition to the three-week gift of a loaner, Vaughn "comped" me with additional services well in excess of the cost of the original repair. So if they can't fix IT, they will fix YOU! All other work on our cars timely, excellent, and about half what dealers charge for same services. These guys definitely walk the extra mile ... and it's a long mile! Forget the rest. go to the best: Auto Japan.

    First few visits were for installations of Tire Rack orders on non-Japanese cars, and my impression was that the shop was clean, courteous, very professional and honest. After I got a Toyota, I knew exactly where to take it. Since then, I have my high-mileage car in for a variety of minor and not-so-minor service / maintenance, and I continue to be impressed. I have unreservedly recommended the shop to several friends and acquaintances.

    Vaughn and his staff have been taking care of my Solora and my p/u for the past 4 yrs. Vaughn is extremely competent, knowledgeable and efficient. While looking for a used p/u, Vaughn not only found 2 that we looked at, he also went with me to do the test drive. He has always been honest and upfront about the repairs and the scheduled maintentance. Auto Japan offers excellent service and their integrity shows in their work.

    I have a Lexus GS300 and have been taking it to Auto Japan for almost a year. A friend suggested I go there when she heard noises while we were driving that I must have gotten use to. I went on a test drive with one of their mechanics so they could pinpoint what I was hearing. They found the battery hold down loose ...the battery was replaced elsewhere... and they repaired my squeaking brakes. I was overdue for a service and Vaughn, the owner helped me prioritize what was needed immediately. He never came across as condescending because I had waited too long. All of my appointments have been just as pleasant! They have a nice waiting area, their prices are fair and the work is done proficiently and timely. There are not enough stars for this garage. Thanks again, Vaughn. You and your staff are top rate!
