This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.
The control unit that operates the vehicle's anti-lock braking system and electronic stability control may fail to operate when needed while the vehicle is being driven. This could cause loss of vehicle control and an accident.
A flange on the fuel pump may crack and begin to leak. This would cause an excessive fuel odor and fire hazard.

The side marker lights may not illuminate as they should when the parking lights or headlights are turned on. This would result in the vehicle not being properly illuminated in the dark, increasing risk of a crash.
The seat backs of the third row of seats may move forward unexpectedly under load, such as if in a frontal collision, possibly not properly securing passengers seated in those seats. This could result in personal injury in an accident.
A coolant valve in the engine compartment may begin to leak onto the engine control module. This could cause the engine to lose power or stall, which could result in an accident.
The front air bags may deploy with excessive force in an accident that does not require such force. This would increase the risk of occupant injury.
