RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
On the inside of the vehicle, many trim panels are secured by metal clips that fasten the panels to the body. Some clips on the "C-pillar" trim covers (the trim behind the doors) may not work properly, which may cause the panels to detach from the body. In an accident, this detached trim could injure an occupant.
What Should You Do?
We at RepairPal have designated this a medium priority recall; this would change to high if any interior trim panels fit loosely. Please contact your Audi dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
Summary:
The retainers clips for the C-pillar trim panels may not retain the panels sufficiently. In a collision, the trim panel may become a projectile and injure an occupant. Dealers will install an improved retainer clip. The Audi recall number is 70D1/JX. This recall began on March 7, 2008.
