1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse

 

Question: at random times, the transmission will not shift out of 1st gear.

The trans. may not shift out of 1st gear for several
drive times in a row , then it may not occur for several weeks. I have had to stop on the side of the road and turn it off for atleast 2 min. , then restart it, which will allow it to shift normal. I have had times when it wont reset for several hours after the drive time.I never get a diagnosis light,/ code.I changed the trans. with a working one, and It made no difference. then i changed the trans. control module, and it made no difference. thanks to whom ever can shed some light on this problem.

    Your Transmission system needs to be re-inspected, we at RepairPal have put together a Diagnostic Sheet that will help you or your shop to organize this inspection process. You need to do a LIVE data scan of the transmission and engine while driving and look at the input and output speed sensors and all the engine sensors, not just 'code read' . It may be a wiring harness problem and a live data scan will help with this.
