I've always been envious of people who have a mechanic in the family, or else a close family friend who they can turn to with car trouble. It's hard to find an auto body or repair shop that you can trust and rely on, one that will treat you like family. Thank goodness you're reading this review right now, because it's your lucky day- you just found one.
I drive an aging 2002 Subaru Forrester that I absolutely adore. It's never had any major problems, but it does have a muffler that likes to detach from the car and hang off like a rusty tail that scrapes along the highway pavement. I've recently moved to an apartment complex and have to drive over a total of nine speed bumps to get home, and this has only exacerbated the muffler situation.
I live with my boyfriend, and the first time my muffler detached his car was also having problems. It's battery had died and we had been relying solely on my car to get us through to the end of the week. We like to pretend that we're free spirits who can go a couple days without a car and be fine, but between his work schedule and my school schedule, a day without a car is extremely detrimental.
So there we were. It was eleven o'clock on a monday morning, and we were stuck in the middle of the Stop & Shop parking lot in desperate need of help. I called Arlington Auto & Tire and had the good fortune of speaking to Joey Dakin, my own personal superhero. Not only did she have my muffler fixed in slightly under an hour and a half, but she sent somebody to pick me up so that I would not have to walk through the traffic on the Dutchess Turnpike to retrieve my car.
Fast forward to yesterday, I'm driving home from seeing family. I'm driving down the Mohonk Mountain road and I'm not sure if it's the potholes or the road itself, but my muffler starts coming off again. By that time it was eight o'clock, too late to bring the car in. So I called today, Sunday, and spoke to Joey again explaining the situation.
Fun Fact 1: Very few repair shops are open on Sunday.
Fun Fact 2: If the repair shop is open, they are only open for light work such as oil changes or vehicle inspections.
Joey told me that she was unsure if there was a mechanic who could do the work on my car. On top of that, she said, they were almost fully booked. I contacted several other shops in the area and discovered they their mechanics would not work on my muffler because it was a Sunday. Discouraged I left my key with Joey and walked home where I lay dejected on my couch, eating ice cream and watching a sitcom for several hours. I needn't have worried though, twenty minutes to five Joey called me to tell me that she had fixed my muffler!
So, let's recap. Not only was Arlington Auto & Tire busy all day, but they were under no obligation to fix my muffler. It wouldn't have made any difference to them, they would've called me Monday and I would've paid them the same amount of money that I paid them today. Joey Dakin went out of her way to help me. The mechanic who worked on my car did extra work so that I could be happy. Who does that? Family does that.
So look no further for an auto body a tier above the others. They are reliable, they are thrifty, and they will go a hundred extra miles just to make their customer happy. I have never had a bad experience with them, and I've been there eight times. Thank you Arlington Auto & Tire!!
Special thanks to: Joey, Jessie, Doug, Moose and the guy who works saturdays with the brown hair although I do not know your name, you are wonderful as well! My invoice: 134912
