1997 Cadillac Seville SLS Question: anti theft system devise won't allow car to start

hi; anti theft problem shown on dash message; how can I dismantle anti theft system; which wire on passenger side in trunk (rear) obviously; please helf my battery is fine and need my car to start; many thanks, margery

    You cannot dismantle the anti-theft system in your 1997 Cadillac Seville. Chances are the wires to the ignition lock cylinder have been damaged. If that is the case the lock cylinder will need to be replaced.     I had the same problem with my 1996 Cadillac Seville SLS. On two separate occasions my car was running fine to our destination and upon returning to vehicle the anti-theft system would not allow the vehicle to start displaying a message that the key was not recognized and prompting me to wait 60 seconds before attempting to restart the vehicle. The vehicle would not restart and I had no other key to try. I called a locksmith and he came out and cut a new key but I was told the key still was not recognized. The locksmith told me that Cadillac had a problem with the wiring harness that runs to the ignition switch which consist of a bundle of thin wires that will break as result of wear from repositioning of steering wheel and normal operation associated with steering the vehicle. I was charged almost $400 to have another key cut and have the wiring redone to the ignition. When it happened again I called the Locksmith back and had him come out and look at it. He told me that the same wires had broken and he told me he would rewire and reposition the location of that bundle of wires and guaranteed me it wouldn't occur again. So far I have had no problems. The second time I was charged $250 with a guarantee that the same problem would not occur again and if it does he would warranty the work!
