2003 Dodge Caravan

Question: anti-freeze consumptoin

Question

A co-worker had a 2003 Dodge Caravan that consumes anti-freeze and me even be leaking, but the big giveaway to me was persistent snall bubbles appearing in the radiator neck. Any suggestions? The mechanic says it it cheaper to replace the engine than doing a head servic. Opinions?

step one: pressure test the cooling system to determine if there are any external leaks

step two: test if the bubbles are hydrocarbons (exhaust)
which can be done with a 4-gas analyzer

until these tests are done, you're just guessing
