Planning on buying a used 1998 ford taurus.
I noticed when driving the door ajar light on the dash was lit up, What are some of the causes for this.
I know about the WD40 trick but its not my car yet and looking for possibilites as to what it maybe.
thank you
I had the same problem. I sprayed the WD40 into the door lock and problem was solved. Take a good look at the brake lines with that car. They have a tendancy to rust out.Especially under the drivers door. An expensive repair

I also have the same problem. I have even gotten out of the car and opened and shut all the doors. It has caused the interior light to remain on, so I removed the light itself.
Has WD40 worked?

you dont want to buy this car, I had a 1997 and the tranny crapped out less that 100k. Trust me the tranny will fail and a trans job in these cars are expensive like 2.5K. Go get a honda or different ford. Just Say NO.

Usually caused by a sticking switch attached to the bottom of the door latch. Since the drivers door is the one that is used the most that's the one to look for first. The WD40 lubes the switch so it stops sticking.
