Do you have to pull the engine to replace the alternator on my car or can it just come out and be replaced?

You don't need to pull the engine, but it is a fairly involved procedure to remove it. You need to remove the power steering pump, the drive belt and tensioner, and then the alternator. It takes a couple hours minimum. There are some bolts on the alternator that are tough to see, much less remove. If you are going to do it, get an online subscription from alldatadiy.com, the instructions are the best you'll find. What is wrong with the alternator?
