Question: almost stalls when shifting

When I shift from park to drive or from drive to park, my engine acts like it is going to stall. It doesn't stall completely, but you can tell it wants to. I was able to drive home without it doing anything weird, but am afraid to drive it further until I find out what the problem is... any ideas would be most helpful as the budget is WAY limited... 245,000 miles and love my car.

    It is very commom that the throttle plate, and bypass air port get blocked up with carbon, the first thing to try would be a simple, but through throttle body cleaning. If that does not work, you should see your family mechanic.
