Question: airbag light/ 5 chimes

what would cause the airbag light to come one...after sitting for a bit it will not come on on the initial restart...now the light AND 5 chimes are going off

    chimes are warnings that there is a malfunction.
    the air bag light shows a fault in the system and the system is now in stand by mode. you are not protected at this time till you have the code pulled and repairs made.
